Accessibility
The pages of the Science Media Centre Spain portal have been designed and revised according to the guidelines defined in the document ‘Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0’, dictated by the WAI working group belonging to the W3C. The aim of these guidelines is to facilitate access to the information offered on the Internet for all citizens. Among the main measures that have been adopted are the following:

Alternative versions in text mode have been included for graphics with relevant content.

Text size

The fonts used on the website have relative dimensions, which means that the user can control their size from the browser he/she is using.

  • Increase Text Size: By pressing the ‘Control’ and ‘+’ keys simultaneously.
  • Decrease Text size: By pressing the ‘Control’ and ‘-’ keys simultaneously.
  • Alternatively, you can increase or decrease the text size by pressing the ‘Control’ key while scrolling the mouse.
  • Return to the original size: By pressing the ‘Control’ and ‘0’ keys simultaneously.

Design, navigation, and interactivity

We have tried to achieve a coherent navigation throughout the portal, following the same structural schemes on all pages. We have also avoided the use of Javascript to interact with the site. Likewise, the information has been separated from its graphic presentation so that users who wish to do so can browse the contents at greater speed, disabling the downloading of style sheets in their browser.

The visual design has been carried out in accordance with the W3C recommendation on Cascading Style Sheets (Level 3) (CSS3). If the browser or browsing device does not support style sheets, the content of the website remains fully legible thanks to its structural markup.
